You can walk it . To me it's like a little park area. I was there winter so not much going on the kids will love it though. It's a very pretty park to walk around.

How long does it take to walk around Little Island?
If you are simply just trying to walk all the various pathways of the park and head to each one of the overlook sections, I would say that 30 minutes would get you around to each area of Little Island.
It is a relaxing spot with great views of the Manhattan Skyline and Hudson River. Little Island is such a unique place to visit in New York City. It is very close to Chelsea Market and the High Line so there are plenty of things to do in the area. The park itself is fun to explore and has great views of the city.

How much does it cost to go to Little Island?
It's always free to visit Little Island. There are certain ticketed events in The Amph that cost $65 for adults and $25, but there are a bunch of free events on the calendar, too.
Little Island has an ADA accessible all-gender restroom available for use. All public restrooms are equipped with changing tables. Restrooms are located near The Glade just past the South Bridge entrance to the park.
Diller says their family foundation gave $260 million to build Little Island and has committed another $120 million over the next 10 years for maintenance and theatrical productions.
Anyone can explore the island with no reservations needed. The landscape is lush and depending on the season enjoy it in full bloom. There are picturesque rolling hills, walking paths and open lawns.
Little Island is supported by 132 pot-shaped structures suspended above the water. These "tulip pots" vary in height and are between 15 and 62 ft (4.6 and 18.9 m) above the mean waterline. This was meant to protect the park from a 500-year flood, in which the water level in the river rises as much as 11 ft (3.4 m).
Little Island attracts over 1.5 million visitors each year from a very diverse range of backgrounds and locations. 70% came from outside New York City and 30% were New York City residents. These visitors describe it as beautiful and uplifting, and a place to gather.

The Amph. Little Island's 700-seat amphitheater is host to all kinds of live performances. Many of these are long format events, so the audience's comfort is an important design consideration.
If you are visiting Little Island in NYC during the week (Monday through Friday), you do not need Little Island tickets to enter. If visiting Little Island on the weekend or a holiday, you will need to reserve a time to visit to help limit the number of guests at one time.
Construction is nearly complete on a new park building immediately north of Pier 97 that will house public restrooms, a food concession, and a small park maintenance area. Solar panels will be installed on the roof. The building is expected to open this winter.
Will we have access to a restroom? Yes, however, there is not a restroom on all of the boats. Your captain will be aware of multiple restrooms around Crab Island and the Destin Harbor, in case of emergency.
