The historical Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) lived roughly 500 years before Jesus, so he did not know of or believe in him. However, modern Buddhist perspectives vary: many Buddhists view Jesus as an enlightened teacher, a bodhisattva (compassionate being), or an example of a good person, while others note fundamental differences between their teachings.
