Is Cardiff Winter Wonderland ice skating under cover?
Winter Wonderland's magical Ice Rink and Ice Walk are set within the beautiful grounds of Cardiff Castle, against the stunning backdrop of the Norman Keep. The undercover 40m x 15m ice rink, with the 150m Ice Walk, is suitable for all ages and abilities.
Ice Bar Cardiff Tickets are £12 per person off-peak and £15 at peak times. The Ice Bar Cardiff opening times are from 11am to 9pm daily. It starts at the end of November until early January. You book on the hour and have about 30 minutes inside the ice bar.
One of the most popular attractions at Cardiff Winter Wonderland is the ice rink and ice walk. You can find the ice skating, where the ice rink leads to the ice walk, within the ground of Cardiff Castle which provides the perfect festive backdrop for this fun winter activity.
The Cardiff Christmas Festival and its iconic Spiegeltent is in the grounds of Sophia Gardens in the centre of Cardiff. Productions include Santa's Wish, Castellana, Britain's Got Talent musical theatre stars Welsh of the West End, Christmas Cracker Comedy Night and My My! ABBA.
Is there a Winter Wonderland in Cardiff this year?
Cardiff Winter Wonderland is open from 16th November 2023 to 2nd January 2024 across two locations - City Hall Lawn, CF10 3ND and Cardiff Castle Grounds, CF10 3RB.
Unlike the Christmas Markets you may find in other cities when you visit Cardiff, you can be assured that you will be purchasing original work from each and every one of our talented makers, combined with a variety of seasonal food and alcohol producers, to create a vibrant Christmas atmosphere.
Opening Times. Admission to Winter Wonderland must be pre-booked. Entry is free during off-peak times and costs £5 or £7.50 for peak hours. Charges apply for rides, ice skating, big top shows, the observation wheel and other attractions.
One person remains in hospital after three people were thrown from a Christmas fairground ride. The Health and Safety Executive said it was "investigating reports of serious injuries" on the Sizzler ride at Cardiff's Winter Wonderland on Saturday evening. The ride will remain closed while the investigation takes place.
Included in the price you get an ice shot of AU vodka in a shot glass made from ice, non-alcoholic options are available, and a drink of your choice including cocktails, prosecco, beer, and non-alcoholic options.
This means that while some venues with outdoor space were able to open for outdoor service, those who only have indoor space are able to accept customers today. Some places are unsurprisingly fully booked but there are plenty of venues across Cardiff that accept walk-ins or don't have a booking system at all.
Do you need to book ice skating at Winter Wonderland?
To guarantee your slot and beat the queue, we highly recommend pre-booking ice skating in advance as this will ensure there is space and allow you to make the most of your time at Winter Wonderland.

Trading times are from 10:00 – 18:00 on Monday to Saturday, and from 10:00 – 17:00 on Sundays. The Christmas Market stalls will be situated along St John Street, Working Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes – all pedestrianised shopping areas in Cardiff city centre.
You must have a pre-booked time slot to enter Winter Wonderland, you can only enter during your time slot but once you're in you can stay as long as you like. Entry is free during off-peak periods and costs between £5 – £7.50 for peak hours.
Entry to Winter Wonderland is free during off-peak hours and either £5 or £7.50 during peak times, and you can head along for cheerily lit fairground rides, a child-friendly Santa Land (including Santa's grotto) and quaint Christmas markets.
Can you get tickets on the door at Winter Wonderland?
Yes, there are several box offices at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland where you can buy tickets for all attractions. Please be aware that these are subject to availability, and we strongly advise you to book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Please arrive in plenty of time if choosing this option.
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland is for everyone. There are rides and attractions for children as young as 2, with more thrilling rides for the older ones – and both young and old love to see Father Christmas.
How many stalls are at the Cardiff Christmas Market?
Each year we have 70 stalls showcasing an extensive rolling programme of over 200 individual businesses selling a wide variety of diverse arts and crafts, interspersed with seasonal food and drink.
Kids & adults will be spoilt for choice, with mouthwatering stone-baked pizza, a full range of gourmet hotdogs with slow-roast toppings, fresh Greek gyros & falafels, sriracha-fried chicken, Welsh beefburgers, fresh Yorkshire pudding Christmas wraps and loaded halloumi fries.
