Customers far and wide had shared their sadness after hearing the news that Pershore Market would be closing for good after Aldi bought the site. Pershore Town Crier, Robert Speight, did the honours of opening the shop.
Its plans include creating 50 jobs and building 124 parking spaces on the site off King George's Way. They have the support of the West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, who said it would be "a boost for local people and the local economy".
Pershore Market is the ideal place for people to shop, as all stalls are under the same roof. What is more, the Market has it's own large car park and customers can also stop for refreshments at the Cosy Kitchen Cafe. The Market is open every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm.
Years of speculation over the future of the landmark came to an end in June when Aldi confirmed it had acquired the complex in the heart of the town. The site was put up for sale in 2019 by owners, the Mackaness family, with a price tag of £5.4million.
