The park is open daily from 6:00 am to 1:00 am, with no reservations required from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. After noon, timed reservations are necessary. Admission to the park is free, though some performances in The Amph require a paid ticket.

The re-built Pier 54 remained in use until Cunard's main terminus was moved upriver. As the years went by, Pier 54 fell into disrepair. The pier just to the north has been demolished, leaving only wooden piles as a reminder of where it once jutted into the Hudson (North) River.

Tickets are not required to visit Little Island. However, If the park reaches a high visitation level where comfort and safety cannot be guaranteed the park may enter a 'slow down'. This means that visitors may be asked to queue on the South Bridge until visitation has eased.
There are three grass areas on Little Island where you can enjoy the sun and a picnic. In the park, there are free-to-use toilets that are located in a cave-like environment. Not only convenient but also fun to visit.
