How much do basic EasyCards, iPass and iCash cards in Taiwan cost? The straight forward credit card style cards in Taiwan cost NT$100 (non refundable) but there are special and cute designs that cost more (usually between NT$200 and NT$450).
You can use the easycard for the TRA, but only for ``citywide trips'' (<70 km, roughly the distance from Taipei to Hsinfeng in Hsinzhu). If you are traveling within the same metropolitan area, you should be fine, otherwise you'll get quite a hefty penalty relative to the ticket price.

Should I exchange money before I travel to Taiwan?
There are plenty of ATM's and money changers at the airport on arrival, so purchasing TWD before leaving home is not really necessary. If you do wish to change money before you arrive, be aware that the rates will not be as good as those you will get in Taiwan so it is probably worth changing as little as possible.
We recommend that you have access to more than one source of money – bringing a combination of cash and a credit/debit card will give the most security and flexibility while travelling.
What is the difference between EasyCard and Taipei Pass?
EasyCard is what almost everyone uses for swiping onto transportation and other things across Taiwan. It is rechargeable and you keep using it for as long as you want. Taipei Unlimited Fun Pass (buy here on Klook) is a special pass for tourists only.
