To enter the Merfolk Kingdom in Coral Island, you must heal at least 40 coral sites and reach Ocean Rank D. After fulfilling these, complete the "Split the Ocean" quest by talking to the Oracle and, upon returning to the surface, you will receive an upgraded diving suit (version 2.0).
Merfolk Blessing is a special item kept under player's journal. It will replace Diving Suit V2 once obtained. It turns the player into a merfolk, allowing them to breathe underwater and swim faster. Right when they are transformed, the player is given the choice of what they want their tail (or legs) to look like.
Marrying the merfolk in the recent major update is bit more difficult now since they added in hangout requirements to progress the heart events and allow you to propose. You can only hang out with the merfolk during their land excursions which are only for one week per season, so that's two hangouts per season.
There are no magic spells that can in reality turn you into a mermaid. In the real world it would require transplants and grafts from another creature like a dolphin, shark or tuna of appropriate size. There would be no way to really attach it to your nervous system so you would be paralyzed from the waist down.

The player can form a bond of friendship with townies, giants and merfolk. Getting to know these characters by exchanging stories and triggering dialog cutscenes will allow the player character and NPCs to become closer.
For the Player's children (you can have up to 2), there will be a variety of children's designs. The children will have their own personality and interest; you can influence this as they grow up, or let them discover it on their own.
The underwater farm is located southeast of Merfolk Kingdom. Resupply Merfolk Kingdom and unlock the underwater farm. Like the land farm, the underwater farm begins overgrown, but with the help of tools, it can be turned into valuable underwater farmland.
The Merfolk have their own language, Merakih, that will need to be deciphered to understand and speak with them and to built your relationships with them.
Diving is the player's ability to go underwater to clean up the trash and gain valuables from the sea. When diving, the player can find kelp, coffers, solar fragments and other underwater scavenge items. Diving is unlocked on the 8th day of Spring when the player receives a letter instructing to meet at the dock.
After completing the Mythical Dream Quest and meeting the Giants for the first time, the Goddess will request your help in restoring Coral Island by completing offering bundles at the Lake Temple.
In the 1.0 update it is now possible to romance 3 new characters, Miranjani, Semeru and Denali, all merfolk. It is also possible to marry another player in multiplayer mode.
While a player is at open sea, these Merfolk will spawn approximately every "player-cannon-launch" distance. A new one will spawn as the player continues to swim; the one behind you will despawn as you go. The spawning and despawning of these Merfolk becomes less predictable when pirates swim in loose groups.
The 777 rule for marriage is a relationship guideline focusing on intentional quality time: a date night every 7 days, a night away (staycation/getaway) every 7 weeks, and a longer romantic holiday every 7 months, designed to keep intimacy and connection strong amidst daily life. It's a structured way to ensure partners prioritize each other with consistent, dedicated moments for fun, play, and deeper bonding, preventing relationships from slipping into routine.
Mermaids are rarely seen, and even more rarely met. But, if you gather some natural craft supplies--seashells, grass, pieces of coral, driftwood, and sea glass--you might just get to befriend one! If you look closely, you just might discover a mermaid out in the waves at the edge of the shore.
One quick nibble of Mermadic Kelp, a simple in-game food item, is all it takes to turn you into a mermaid. There are two main ways to get your hands on some. The first is reliable, but slightly underwhelming if you want to experience everything the Island Living pack has to offer.
