Zone 1 covers the West End, the Holborn district, Kensington, Paddington and the City of London, as well as Old Street, Angel, Pimlico, Tower Gateway, Aldgate East, Euston, Vauxhall, Elephant & Castle, Borough, London Bridge, Earl's Court, Marylebone, Edgware Road, Lambeth North and Waterloo.
How to get around Mayfair. Situated in Zone 1, you can travel to and from Mayfair via two underground stations; Bond Street and Green Park, with Oxford Circus and Hyde Park underground stations also close by.
Some of London's trendy neighbourhoods like Camden and Notting Hill are located in Zone 2. Make sure to use an Oyster Card or contactless payment when riding the underground to get the cheapest fares.
For strategic planning, since 2011 there has been a Central London sub-region comprising the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Southwark, Westminster and the City of London.
The nearest tube to Camden market is Camden Town. This is located on the Northern line (the black line on the underground map) and the likelihood is that you'll be traveling Northbound if coming from anywhere in central London. Another nearby station is Chalk Farm, which is just one stop onwards from Camden Town.
Central London is zone 1, zone 2 is the ring around zone 1, zone 3 is the ring around 2 and so on. If you look at the zone map below it should make sense. *zones 7,8 and 9 cover a small area just outside North West London including Watford, Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Amersham or Chalfont & Latimer.
The former Shoreditch station was at a different location and was served by an infrequent, peak hour only, Monday-Friday shuttle service. The location of the new station means that it is correctly allocated in Zone 1.
The north bank entrance is on the south side of Queen Victoria Street and the south bank entrance, opened in 2011, is adjacent to Blackfriars Road. The station falls within fare zone 1.
