Congleton Market is in Congleton Town Centre on a purpose built site, next door to Morrison's Supermarket. (Sat Nav Code CW12 1DB – Princess Street). The market is open all year every Tuesday and Saturday from 9am until 3.30pm. The market is on one level with indoor and undercover outdoor stalls.
There's a car boot sale every Sunday in Hanley on Hinde Street carpark, near the Hilton Hotel. The people on the main carpark (occasional car-booters and regular small traders) are really nice. Over the road on a separate car park are larger traders, who come in large removal vans.
The site was acquired by Scarborough Developments from Modus when the firm went into administration in 2010. The new developer of the site is Nick Hynes, from Nick Hynes Real Estate, who in the 1990s refurbished the old mills at Meadowside on Mountbatten Way. No completion date has been earmarked as of yet.
Owner Life & Soul Ltd agreed to sell the Sandbach and Congleton establishments to bar manager Stephanie Chaddock, who joined the company in 2008 as a waitress.
Car boot sales do run in the winter yes... they tend to be in the sticks a bit (where there's space) and you often need a car to get to them (I used to go to one at Denham which must have been at least a mile from the nearest public transport).
Congleton is a market town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. The town is by the River Dane, 21 miles (34 km) south of Manchester and 13 miles (21 km) north of Stoke on Trent. At the 2021 Census, it had a population of 30,015.
Congleton is buzzing with festive spirit. The Christmas Lights Switch-On on 24th November marks the start of the season with lantern parades, entertainment, and charity stalls. Don't miss the Christmas markets and fairs, including the Artisanity craft fair and Makers Market.
There are no bookings, just turn up, payment on entrance when a steward will direct you. Bring something like a pasting table, clothes rail or plastic ground sheet to sell your items from.
Bric-a-brac, clothes, books and toys are all car boot sale staples. However, it can be surprising what sells well, so even if you think an item is not worth anything, it may be worth bringing it along. You should avoid spending all of your profits on buying more items from other sellers.
Go with the mindset of: I'm offering hard cash for this right away, and you may not get a better offer all day. Haggle hard! When you arrive, take a power walk away from the stalls by the entrance to the end of the car boot and work backwards. That way you'll avoid most of the other locusts hunting for early bargains.
