Paltan (2018) was a disaster at the box office. Despite being a war drama from renowned director J.P. Dutta, it failed to make an impact, with a total domestic net collection of only around ₹10.26 crore. The film was rejected by audiences and received mixed-to-negative reviews.
On the whole Paltan is an extremely weak film which fails to tell an epic war story well to its audiences. JP Dutta hasn't made a good film for a very long so perhaps he needs to reconsider his strategy.
Bottom line is there is no hard and fast rule that defines a movies success other than the Box Office Business Report which indicates that a Movie is a Hit if it makes profits for the Distributors and a flop if it does not.
