The clothing giant will close its doors at Kirkgate Shopping Centre at 5.30pm on Monday as it prepares to open in The Broadway at 10am the following day. The 1970s shopping centre is due to be demolished in the coming years to make way for the City Village development of housing.
Kirkgate Market opened in the 19th Century and Oastler Market in the 1930s, and both were important destinations in the years before online shopping saw footfall decline. On 28 June, they will shut and will eventually be demolished to make way for 1,000 new homes as part of a regeneration scheme.

What is the redevelopment in Bradford Kirkgate?
The vast regeneration project will create about 1,000 new homes, with the bulk on the Oastler Market and Kirkgate Shopping Centre sites. Work is set to begin in autumn with the demolition of Oastler Market, with construction of the homes due to start in the spring.
Leeds Kirkgate Market became the largest indoor market in Europe when it opened in 1857. But it's not just it size that sets it apart as a truly unique shopping experience. History. Kirkgate Market has been on this site in its current form for 120 years, but the first, open-air markets opened here in 1822. This area had buzzed with the life of the White Cloth Halls and Corn Exchange, but construction didn't begin on Kirkgate market itself until 1857.
