Is there a dress code when visiting the White House?
For public East Wing tours of the White House, there is no official dress code, and casual attire like jeans, sneakers, and t-shirts are acceptable. However, dressing in "business casual" or neat attire is recommended, as it is a working building and a, historic site, National Park Service.
We went on a White House tour and although there is no dress code, I felt underdressed in my shirt and jean shorts. Most around us were in khaki shorts or dresses. Just wanted to pass this along as I didn't even think to question my attire for our visit.
Umbrellas, wallets, cell phones (including those with cameras), and car keys are permitted. However, guests will not be allowed to use cell phones inside the White House. Phones used inside the White House may be confiscated by US Secret Service.
DRESS CODE – Almost no place has a dress code but in some places, wearing something nice will help you blend in with the crowd. For example, if you attend a show at Arena Stage or the National Theatre, you'll rarely see someone wearing jeans (unless they're kids). Please don't wear shorts to a fine dining restaurant.

What is the 3-3-3 rule for outfits?
The "333 rule" in clothing refers to two popular minimalist fashion concepts: the viral TikTok trend of using 3 tops, 3 bottoms, and 3 shoes to create numerous outfits (9 items total) for styling practice, and the more extensive Project 333, where you select 33 items (including clothes, shoes, and accessories) to wear for three months, excluding essentials like underwear, workout gear, and sleepwear, to simplify your wardrobe and reduce decision fatigue. Both methods focus on versatility, quality over quantity, and creating a functional capsule wardrobe.
The "5 Outfit Rule" is a mindful shopping guideline: before buying a new clothing item, you must be able to instantly envision at least five different outfits you can create with it using clothes you already own, ensuring versatility, preventing impulse buys, reducing clutter, and building a more functional, long-lasting wardrobe. It's about maximizing wear and value from each purchase by focusing on mix-and-match potential for various occasions and seasons, rather than buying trendy items you'll only wear once.
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to, the following: handbags, book bags, backpacks, purses, food and beverages of any kind, strollers, cameras, video recorders or any type of recording device, tobacco products, personal grooming items (make-up, hair brush or comb, lip or hand lotions, etc.), any pointed ...
You may also wear wide-legged dress pants or cropped hem pants as they also go well with any type of top, while looking official and formal. Avoid jeans and leggings as these are often too informal for US visa attire.
President John Tyler, the 10th U.S. President, fathered his last child, Pearl, in 1860 at the age of 70, holding the record for the most children (15) and the latest birth for any U.S. President, a legacy made possible by his much younger second wife, Julia Gardiner, notes History Facts. Tyler's remarkable reproductive span, from his first child in 1815 to his last in 1860, created an incredible generational link, with one of his grandsons, Harrison Ruffin Tyler, still alive in the 2020s, a Facebook post from WDSU.

You can wear jeans to some 5-star restaurants, especially in cities like London or if they have a relaxed vibe, but it's safer to opt for dressier attire like smart trousers or a dress/skirt to be sure you fit in, as many fine dining spots still expect smart casual or more formal wear, avoiding ripped denim, t-shirts, and sneakers. Check the restaurant's website for their specific dress code or look at their Instagram to see what other guests wear for guidance, but generally, dark, well-fitting, non-distressed jeans might pass, while a blazer for men or a nice blouse/dress for women paired with polished shoes is always a safe bet.
