Is there a limit to how many items you can sell on Vinted?
There is no specific upper limit to how many items you can list or sell on Vinted, making it free to list as many second-hand items as desired. While you can have hundreds of listings active, Vinted may trigger a requirement to provide personal details (like a National Insurance number) if you exceed 30 sales or earn over £1,700 in a year.
This isn't a new tax – it's simply a reporting obligation for the platforms themselves. Vinted and similar platforms must report your details to HMRC if you meet either of these thresholds in a calendar year: You've completed 30 or more sales. Your total sales exceed £1,700 (approximately €2,000)
The trading allowance is currently £1,000 per tax year. This means you can make up to a grand in profit from your Vinted sales (and other side hustles combined) without paying tax. This allowance applies to your profits, not your total sales.
Is there a limit to how much you can post on Vinted?
Officially there isnt a max. However the bots on vinted can be agressive and will restrict accounts for "suspicious" acrivity if they notice you upload too much. Problem is that treshold is unknown. Some people can easily upload 30 items and be fine.

What are red flags on Vinted?
Most fake buyer scams start with a friendly and eager message saying they want to buy your item right away. They often ask to move the conversation off the Vinted app, suggesting email, WhatsApp, or text instead. While this might seem easier, it's actually a big warning sign.
Firearms, weapons and explosives, pepper sprays, tasers and similar items. Note: Realistic toy guns are also forbidden (e.g. airsoft and bb guns). Drugs and drug paraphernalia, growing ingredients for drugs (e.g. cannabis plant seeds). Nazi and fascist uniforms, and items displaying Nazi or fascist symbols.
If you reach the thresholds for reporting, we'll reach out to you by the end of the year. There's no need to contact us if you reach the thresholds earlier in the year. We'll automatically contact you if you meet at least one of the following: Completed 30 sales or more within the calendar year.
You can list as many items as you want, for free. You must comply with the Catalogue Rules, the Terms and Conditions and the Vinted Pro Terms and Conditions.
Who does it apply to? Everyone who makes at least 30 sales or earns over €2,000 (~£1,700) on Vinted in a calendar year. Meeting these requirements doesn't mean you have to pay taxes on your Vinted sales.
Vinted is a top resale marketplace with no selling fees, making it a great place for resellers to maximize profits. Women's fashion dominates, with dresses, shoes, and accessories like handbags, belts, and jewelry being top sellers.
Inappropriate behaviour and/or uploading inappropriate pictures. Repeatedly selling items that fall under the prohibited items in our Catalogue Rules. Selling counterfeit items, i.e. fakes and/or unauthorised replicas of original products. Promoting selling outside the Vinted payment system.
What are the tax implications of selling on Vinted?
If you're casually selling items on Vinted, you're unlikely to need to pay any tax. You pay no tax on the money you make on Vinted over the course of a year if it's less than what you originally paid for the items.
Do I get a bad rating if I cancel an order on Vinted?
If you cancel an order manually, you might receive automatic negative feedback. To avoid it, inform the other member before cancelling the order and reach a mutual agreement. Then they will be able to edit or delete the feedback.
Do I have to pay tax on selling my second hand clothes?
Selling your own used clothes for less than you paid is generally not taxed, but if you buy clothes to resell for profit (treating it as a business), you might need to pay Income Tax on profits above £1,000 and potentially VAT. Recent platform rules require reporting sales over 30 items/£1,700 to HMRC, but this mainly flags potential traders; you're usually fine if decluttering personal items.
I heard that I don't need to do anything until I'm earning over £3,000? That's not true. If you're earning over £1,000 from side hustles, you'll still need to tell HMRC. At the moment, you tell HMRC by doing a Self Assessment tax return.
Vinted has no soft selling limits for personal items, but platforms must report sellers to HMRC (UK tax authority) if they make over 30 sales OR earn over €2,000 (£1,700 approx.) in a calendar year, triggering potential tax obligations if you're seen as trading for profit, not just selling unwanted goods. Selling personal used items for less than you paid is usually tax-free, but buying to resell (trading) over the £1,000 tax-free trading allowance (or £1,000 property allowance) means you must register for Self Assessment and pay tax on profits.
