(WSVN) - “Flea Market USA” announced it will be closing its doors leaving many vendors outraged. The flea market has been in business for over 30 years, operating in the area of 79th Street and Northwest 30th Avenue. Vendors received notice last week that they have until the first week of March to leave.
Because of hundreds of safety violations, USA Flea Market has been permanently closed. It was a tragedy waiting to happen and the town acted appropriately to protect the public. Hundreds of safety violations were cited including faulty wiring.
In 2017, New York-based Gramercy Property Trust purchased the property, which was where the Opa-locka Hialeah Flea Market stood for 40 years before it closed last June. In 2022, Opa-locka Indoor Flea Market, was erected at 13449 NW 42nd Avenue.
The former flea market and auto auction site was acquired for $80 million in 2017 by GPT NW 42nd Avenue Owner II LLC, an affiliate of New York-based Gramercy Property Trust.
