What are the months you are not allowed to fish in the UK?
In England and Wales, the main period when you are not allowed to fish for coarse fish (such as coarse fish and eels) on rivers, streams, drains, and some canals is from 15 March to 15 June inclusive.
On rivers, the traditional close season for coarse fishing runs from 15 March through to 15 June. This applies to all rivers, including the ones where we control the fishing rights. For rivers not on the list below, please check with the Environment Agency.
