Sikhism regards Jesus as a highly respected saint, prophet, or enlightened being who taught love, devotion, and compassion. While acknowledging his spiritual holiness, Sikhs do not view Jesus as God or the only son of God, as Sikhi teaches that God (Waheguru) is formless and never incarnates in human form.
While Sikhs may accept Jesus as a prophet, they believe that Jesus cannot be God because God cannot be born. However, Jesus says, “Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham was, I am” (Jn. 8:58). When interrogated by the high priest asking, “'Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
There is no mention of Jesus Christ in Sri Guru Granth Sahib . Yet, we respect his teachings but we respectfully do not believe that he was God himself. That's it.
So we see from the Bible that God is a composite unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Sikhism does not acknowledge this fundamental truth. What did Guru Nanak Dev Ji say about Jesus?
Jesus could have been one with God but not God Himself. Guru Granth Sahib Ji states : "One who is not touched by pleasure, pain, greed, emotional attachment and egotistical pride. Nanak says, listen mind: he is the very image of God. One who is beyond praise and slander, and looks upon gold and iron alike.
