The original Golden Hinde, which completed Sir Francis Drake's circumnavigation (1577–1580), was preserved as a tourist attraction at Deptford, London, until it rotted away and was broken up around 1650–1662. Some of its, timbers were salvaged to make a chair for the Bodleian Library and a cupboard for Middle Temple Hall.
The vessel remained there for nearly 70 years where she eventually disintegrated due to the rains and weather and was broken up. Nothing remains of the ship except a chair carved from its timbers, which can be seen in the Bodleian Library in Oxford.

The replica Golden Hinde is berthed at St Mary Overie Dock in London. Both the original and her replica circumnavigated the globe; the first returned in 1580 and the second in 1979.
Since 1996, she has been berthed at St Mary Overie Dock, in Bankside, Southwark, London, where she is open to the public and hosts a range of educational programmes.
