A tin peddler was a 18th-19th century traveling merchant who sold tinware—such as pots, pans, and utensils—directly to rural households from a horse-drawn wagon or by carrying goods on their back. Often acting as a go-between for factory producers and remote consumers, they played a key role in bringing household goods, news, and sometimes gossip to isolated families.
