What is the famous flower exhibition in the Netherlands?
The Keukenhof is the largest flower exhibition in the world, famous for its many tulips. You can admire over 7 million flower bulbs in bloom here. FloraHolland in Aalsmeer, the world's largest flower auction, is also a well-known hotspot.
The Keukenhof Tulip Festival is one of the world's most beautiful botanic gardens. The festival is held every spring in the town of Lisse in the south of the Netherlands, but is only open for around two months, usually from the middle of March to the middle of May.
Located in the small town of Lisse just southwest of Amsterdam, these expansive gardens were once the hunting grounds for the Dutch elite, who lived in the adjacent Castle Keukenhof as far back as the 15th century. The modern garden as we know it today did not come into being until 1949.
All flowers at Keukenhof are blooming beautifully from mid-April until at least the first week of May. During these weeks it is a true explosion of colour and fragrance.
Make sure to plan your visit carefully so you can fully enjoy the beauty of Keukenhof. In our experience, the average length of stay for visitors at Keukenhof is 3 hours.
If you appreciate beautiful spaces and taking a nice stroll through nature, you'll enjoy a visit to Keukenhof. But if you are a gardener yourself and enjoy growing flowers, you will absolutely love it!

Tickets for Keukenhof cost €20 per adult and €9 for children aged 4-17, while children under 4 years old can enter for free. There is also a Lentepass, which allows unlimited access to the gardens throughout the season. This pass costs €50 per adult and €17.50 per child.

How often does Keukenhof Gardens sell out? Since Keukenhof Gardens works with day tickets with an arrival time, it regularly happens that the flower park is sold out well in advance. Especially during the Easter weekend, the flower parade weekend and during peak flowering, tickets are harder to get.
The single entrance ticket for the garden €20 per person. To note this DOES NOT include the shuttle bus from Amsterdam (which you will likely use). If you are travelling from Amsterdam and need to get to the Keukenhof Gardens, the only way (unless you have a car) is with their shuttle bus.
When exiting museums and attractions, make a note to stop by the restrooms. These are usually free and well kept. You can always find clean public toilets in main train stations for about fifty cents. And if you're taking the train, the big rule is to never, ever, flush when the train is stopped at a station!
What to wear in Amsterdam to not look like a tourist?
Amsterdam is fairly casual, so you can easily wear jeans and t-shirts, dockers and polos or even dress up a bit. Women wear everything here (though not many super high heels due to cobblestone streets). Shorts are weather permitting here. It also depends on where you're staying and what you're comfy wearing.
How much time takes a visit to the Keukenhof Gardens? Of course you can enjoy all the beauty for a whole day, but on average, a visit to the flower gardens takes about 2 to 4 hours. We recommend to admire the flower fields in addition to Keukenhof. This often also takes 2 to 4 hours.

Keukenhof is significantly less crowded on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays compared to the other days of the week. Visit before 10:30am and after 4pm for a relatively quieter atmosphere.
