The host rocks of the Rajpura-Dariba Pb-Zn-Cu deposit, located in Rajasthan, India, are primarily Proterozoic metasediments belonging to the Bhilwara Supergroup, specifically the meta-volcano-sedimentary sequence. The mineralization is predominantly hosted within graphite-bearing mica schist and calc-silicate rocks (calc-silicate dolomite/marble).
Rocks of Rajpura-Dariba are equivalent to the Aravalli Supergroup of rocks. The age for basement gneiss is Meso–Archean and age for intrusive Untala granite is Neo-Archean. However there is no dispute about status of Aravalli Supergroup of rocks starting above unconformity and they are of Lower Proterozoic age.
Rajpura Dariba is owned by Hindustan Zinc Ltd, a subsidiary of Vedanta. The Rajpura Dariba mine is close to Sindesar Khurd mine, approximately 110km SW of Rampura-Agucha and 100km NE of the Zawar Group mines, which are the other main HZL mines in India. The mill produces a zinc and a lead concentrate.
