According to 2021 Census data, the North East of England and Wales are the most ethnically homogeneous, with 90.6% of residents identifying as White British. Other data sources suggest the North East (93.1%) and Wales (92.2%) had the highest proportion of White British people, with specific, smaller areas often having even higher figures.
Cities across the UK regions with high White British populations included Swansea (91.5%), Kingston Upon Hull (89.7%), Plymouth (92.2%), Darlington (93.7%), Belfast (96.4% – NI classification "white"), Norwich (84.7%), Liverpool (84.8%) and Chelmsford (90.0%).
Vermont had the highest White population share (99.9 percent) of its total population, followed by New Hampshire at 99.8 percent, and Maine 99.7 percent, while Mississippi had the lowest proportion of White population at 54.6 percent (Table 1).
Brent, Newham and Tower Hamlets have the highest percentage of non-White British residents and the highest proportion of households with multiple ethnic groups.
Almost 96 per cent of Black Britons live in England, particularly in England's larger urban areas, with close to 1.2 million living in Greater London. 47.8% of the total Black British population live in London.

What percentage of the UK is White?
As of the 2021 Census, approximately 81.7% of the population in England and Wales identified within the broad "White" ethnic category, while for the entire UK, around 83% identified as White. This includes White British (74.4% in England & Wales) and Other White groups (6.2%), showing a decrease from 2011 as other ethnic groups grew, though White remains the largest segment.
The Greater London area is home to some 250,000 Jamaicans, whilst the second largest number which is 45,000 individuals can be found in the West Midlands.
Although less than 10% of the total UK-born population lived in London, the city was home to one-third of the total foreign-born population in the country. Northern Ireland, the North East, and Wales were the least popular destinations for migrants.
In 2020/21 there were approximately 696,000 Polish nationals living in the United Kingdom, the highest non-British population at this time. Indian and Irish were the joint second-largest nationalities at approximately 370,000 people.

People with very light skin colors (what we call white people, though most people are really just shades of brown) evolved over thousands of years in northern climates. Unsurprisingly, most of the Pakistanis in the UK live in Greater London. The capital is home to almost 300,000 people of Pakistani descent. Other expat hubs include Birmingham (around 200,000), Bradford (140,000), and Manchester (66,000).

But do people seeking asylum get this free housing forever? No. When someone gets refugee status, they can no longer stay in asylum accommodation. They can choose where to live, but they have to pay for their rent or ask for government help – like any UK citizen.
The most deprived neighbourhood in England according to the IMD25 is to the east of the Jaywick & St Osyth area of Clacton-on-Sea in Tendring (Tendring 018a). This area was also ranked as the most deprived nationally according to previous iterations of the Indices.
Caribbean, and more specifically Jamaican culture, was brought over with the Windrush Generation and became a staple within Britain. However, Jamaicans were commonly negatively stereotyped as marijuana smokers and criminals in the media such as in the 2002 movie 'Shottas.
London (13.5%) and the West Midlands (4.5%) had the highest percentage of people who identified as black – the North East (1.0%) and Wales (0.9%) had the lowest. London (5.7%) and the West Midlands (3.0%) had the highest percentage of people with mixed ethnicity – the North East (1.3%) and Wales (1.6%) had the lowest.
