Getting to York Christmas Market 2023 The main market is on Parliament Street which is 1.4 kilometres or a 15-minute walk from York rail station. However, you can also catch the No. 9 bus from outside York rail station which will drop you on Stonebow, a 2 minute walk from Parliament Street.
It will drop you off outside York rail station (a 15 minute walk to the market). Alternatively, stay on the bus until Skeldergate (a 5 minute walk to the market). The No. 2 bus from Rawcliffe Park and Ride in the north of the city drops you outside Museum Gardens or Exhibition Square, opposite Bootham Bar.
Around Parliament Square, St Sampson's Square and throughout the city you'll find a treasure trove of festive treats and Christmas gifts. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, the Medieval Shambles and Shambles Market are a must-visit. Festive Music, choirs and speciality markets feature at weekends throughout December.
We understand that York Christmas Market can be a busy event at peak times (especially weekends) which can be overwhelming to some attendees. We are integrating designated quieter periods where music will be minimal from 10am – 12pm each day.
We visited York Christmas market and it was a very typical Christmas market, stall all lined up along the middle of the shops, most things were just so expensive. The mulled wine was £5 for a small disposable cup, which was not really hot when we got it.

As we mentioned, the Christmas market will launch on Thursday, November 16 and run through to Friday, December 22. There's expected to be around 75 stalls all selling a variety of items. There's also food and drink details from vendors to enjoy.
Useful information. York Christmas market 2023 is open from Thursday 16th November to Friday 22rd December. Stalls open around 10 am and close at 6 pm on weekdays or at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. There are no toilets in the market but there are fee paying public toilets in the adjacent Shambles market.
