The sangai (Meitei pronunciation: /sə. ŋai/) (Rucervus eldii eldii) is an endemic and endangered subspecies of Eld's deer found only in Manipur, India. It is also the state animal of Manipur. Its common English name is Manipur brow-antlered deer or Eld's deer.
The Manipur Brow-antlered deer, Rucervus eldii eldii, lovingly called Sangai (animal awaiting and looking at you) by the people of Manipur is the flagship Manipur State Animal (ref. Manipur State Govt. notification dated the 21st march,1989 Notification ).
