As a French citizen, your allegiance to France trumps all other aspects of your identity. In fact, it is illegal for the French government to collect information about the racial and ethnic origin of its multicultural population on the national census, though approximately 5 percent of the country is black.
While exact 2025 figures aren't finalized, recent data and projections suggest the White population in the UK is around 77-81%, with White British being the largest group, though its percentage is declining as other ethnic groups grow, with projections showing White Britons becoming a minority by the 2060s. For 2025, estimates place the White population around 77.5%, with White British at about 65-70% and White Other groups (like Polish, Irish, etc.) adding to the total.
Cities across the UK regions with high White British populations included Swansea (91.5%), Kingston Upon Hull (89.7%), Plymouth (92.2%), Darlington (93.7%), Belfast (96.4% – NI classification "white"), Norwich (84.7%), Liverpool (84.8%) and Chelmsford (90.0%).
Demography. Easington is notable for being the town with the highest percentage of white residents in England (99.2% white in 2001). According to the results of the 2001 census, it also has the UK's lowest population of Jedi knights.
British Pakistanis make up about 2.5% of the UK population, totaling over 1.6 million people according to the 2021 census, with the largest concentrations in England, particularly the West Midlands, Yorkshire & the Humber, North West, and Greater London. This percentage has grown from 1.86% in 2011 and 1.27% in 2001.
As of early 2025, reports based on the latest census data indicate the UK Muslim population is around 4 million, making up about 6% of the total UK population, with figures suggesting a continued fast growth rate and increasing integration, though challenges in poverty and health persist. The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) highlighted in April 2025 that over half of British Muslims are now UK-born, and strong British identity is common among them.
The 2021 United Kingdom census recorded a population of 355,977 or 0.5% of the population in the United Kingdom, with about 40% of the whole population residing in Greater London.
However, the 5 percent of the world population that inhabits North America in no way reflects the racial mix of the world, in which only 16 percent are white. That's about 1.19 billion people out of a total world population of 7.4 billion. And it's predicted that by 2060 only 10 percent of the world will be white.
The overall percentage of the Swedish population that is black is less than 1%, although it should be noted that a well-known Swedish politician, Nyamko Sabuni, is black. There are negligible numbers of people from other racial groups, including East Asia, South Asia, Native American, and Pacific Islander.
While creoles of color historically had classical French names, many names of French origin entered the picture during the 1950s and 1960s in homage to the relative freedom that many African American expatriates in Paris had experienced during and after the Années folles.

India. Islam is the fastest-growing religion in India. Growth rate of Muslims has been consistently higher than the growth rate of others, ever since the census data of independent India has been available. For example, during the 1991–2001 decade, Muslim growth rate was 29.5% (while others were 19.9%).
In 2030, Muslims will experience the rare event of observing Ramadan twice in the same Gregorian calendar year, once in early January and again in late December, due to the lunar Islamic calendar being shorter than the solar one. Additionally, the Muslim population will continue significant growth, with projections showing the global Muslim population reaching about 2.2 billion, and substantial increases in countries like the U.S. and UK, while major developmental changes are also underway, notably Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
Pakistani immigrants helped to solve labour shortages in the British steel, textile and engineering industries. The National Health Service (NHS) recruited doctors from Pakistan in the 1960s. The British Pakistani population has grown from about 10,000 in 1951 to over 1.6 million in 2021.
