What is the difference between a business owner and a hawker?
Hawkers do not have permanent shops whereas shop owners have permanent shops. They generally sell a product like vegetables and fruits. Their income levels are less than that of shop owners. Even the expenses (like rent electricity, wages to workers, etc.)
Hawkers often face challenges such as fluctuating customer demand, competition from nearby vendors, and the need to comply with local regulations regarding permits and hygiene. Managing inventory and ensuring product freshness can be demanding, especially with limited storage space.
Hawking constitutes a sizable proportion of the informal sector and creates opportunities for entrepreneurship and self-employment.
