The Cafe Boat - Holly (based at Bollington Wharf) typically opens from 10 am to 3 pm on weekends. It is a travelling canal cafe offering coffee and cakes, often operating around those hours, but hours may vary depending on their location.
After 5 years of travelling the canals with our much-loved cafe boat “Holly”, we have made the difficult decision to sell her. We bought Holly in March 2019 when Vic and I were looking for an escape from demanding jobs and big city life, and Holly was looking for someone who could see the potential in her.
The coffee shop, with its full height glass wall over -looking the amazing boat lift, offers a selection of refreshments to eat in or take away. Choose from a wide range of hot drinks and mouth -watering snacks including breakfasts, pizza, paninis, sandwiches and jacket potatoes or maybe try one of the delicious cakes.
It is one of only two working boat lifts in the United Kingdom; the other is the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland. The lift has been closed to boat traffic since 3 January 2025 following failure of a gate lift cable during routine testing. The lift will remain closed during 2026.
