If a snake appears to be chasing you, do not run, as this can trigger a strike. Immediately stop, stay calm, and slowly back away, as snakes rarely chase and are likely just trying to escape or are threatened. If the snake continues to move toward you, slowly move to the side, allowing it to pass.
