BTS members RM and V have officially returned to civilian life after completing 18 months of mandatory military service. They became the third and fourth members of the K-Pop group to finish their military duty, following J-Hope and Jin, who were discharged last year.
Pre-debut, V was the "secret member" of BTS: fans were unaware of his existence as his agency wished to keep him a surprise. He later stated that the concept made him feel lonely and uneasy at the time as he thought it was because he might be cut from the lineup.
According to Soompi, RM and V enlisted in December 2023. They served as members of the 15th Infantry Division Military Army Band and the II Corps Special Duty Team, respectively.
