Vashti is seen as a strong character who did not use her beauty or sexuality for self-advancement. She valued herself as a woman and her identity as a human being was more important to her than her position as queen.
Given that the Haman episode began in the 12th year of the king's reign is five years into his and Esther's marriage, they would have enjoyed just nine further years together before their assassination.
