In Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the Homunculus Greed is killed by Father, who absorbs him back into his body after Greed turns his own body into, or acts as a conduit for, the charcoal/frail form needed to destroy Father. In the 2003 anime series, Greed is killed by Edward Elric.
(In the manga, Father kills Greed by snapping his teeth shut on him.) In his final moment Greed observes the crowd of soldiers, especially Ed and Ling, and reflects on all the good they did for him and helping him figure out what he truly wanted in life and ceases to be, happy to have found true companions in the end.
Watching as his men are cut down swiftly by Bradley, Greed stands back up and challenges the king once more. Attempting to activate his Shield once more, Bradley is able to move in quickly and finish him off for good, impaling the homunculus with four of his swords.
In order to provide for his people, he requires absolute power to rule. Intrigued by the promise of an empire, Greed accepts Ling's invitation and takes control.
He is first introduced as an anti-villain but ultimately becomes an anti-hero, following his rebirth in the body of the Xingese prince Ling Yao. He was voiced by Yuichi Nakamura in Japanese, and by Chris Patton (as the first Greed) and Troy Baker (as the second Greed) in English.
Ironically, Gluttony meets his end being eaten by another, his eldest brother Pride. He is the second Homunculus to be killed by another of his kind, the first and third being Greed.
This jealousy motivates Envy to hate and mistreat humans very personally; more personally, in fact, than any other homunculus. Envy seems to resent being confronted about his inner envy. This eventually causes Envy to commit suicide.
His "shield" is so strong that he was able to take Father's nuclear-level attack at point-blank without harm. Even with this apparent invincibility, his shield still has physical properties and is thus susceptible to alchemy.
After being defeated by Edward Elric, being reduced to his true form, and Father's death, Edward hands over the body of Pride, in a now powerless fetus-like form, to a tearful Mrs. Bradley. Two years later, it is shown that Pride has grown up and once again goes by the name of "Selim Bradley".
All of the seven Homunculi met a symbolic and ironic death, reflecting the deadly sins they embodied: * Lust died by the hands of a man she could not tempt. * Gluttony was eaten by his own kind. * Sloth died from over exhaustion. * Envy committed suicide after being pitied by those he envied.
Greed suggested instead Ed, Darius, and Heinkel be his subordinates, a proposition Ed accepted. Despite their arguments, alongside Ling, Ed became one of Greed's closest friends and the two worried for each other during their battle against Father and the other homunculi.
Winry sees Ed off at the train station, whereupon he proposes to her in a clumsy, alchemy-based fashion, but she accepts regardless in an equally-awkward manner, much to Ed's amusement. It is shown that they later marry, and both are seen in the epilogue with their son and daughter.
"Pride" may refer to the following: Selim Bradley, the son of the Führer of Amestris who is later revealed to be a Homunculus and the embodiment of some of Father's Pride in the original manga and 2009 anime.
As a General Grade Shadow, Greed is one of the stronger shadows in Jinwoo's army and an immensely powerful individual. Immense Strength: Greed was able to break out of Sillad's ice prison by just flexing his biceps. Immense Speed: Greed can move at immense speeds.
Greed is captured by Bradley (More on him later) and brought to Father, where he is then melted and killed. This is technically the first Homunculus death in the series, but he does make a reappearance later.
We do see Greedling regenerate a couple of times in the show. Here, and here. Edit: He's not regenerating in the second image, but he gets shot in the head and he's still alive, meaning his philosopher's stone has more than one soul, he regenerates a few seconds later. :P.
Kimblee mocks Pride for his desperate attempt to seize the body of a human he so strongly despises, allowing Edward to reverse the process and invade Pride's own soul and destroy him.
In the standard list, the seven deadly sins according to the Catholic Church are pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth. In Catholicism, the classification of deadly sins into a group of seven originated with Tertullian and continued with Evagrius Ponticus.
