Butlin's is owned by a company backed by the Harris family, who bought the holiday camp chain back from private equity firm Blackstone in a £300 million deal announced in September 2022, reacquiring it from the larger Bourne Leisure portfolio they'd previously sold. The Harris family, founders of Bourne Leisure (which also runs Haven and Warner Leisure Hotels), regained control of Butlin's after Blackstone sold it back to them, with the real estate assets sold separately.

Three of the original camps remain open under the Butlins brand in Bognor Regis, Minehead, and Skegness. They are now owned and run by Butlins Skyline Ltd, which is now wholly owned by the Harris Family Trust.

The company was established in 1964 and bought by the Bourne Leisure Group in 2000. In November 2004 Bourne Leisure merged its existing British Holidays chain into the Haven Holidays brand. Bourne Leisure was sold to the Blackstone Group in January 2021.

Stephen has a personal connection to Butlin's, as the world-class magician and presenter was an iconic Redcoat at the Minehead resort in 1999 for two years. His Redcoat days played an important role in starting his career as an entertainer, as this was Stephen's first break into the entertainment industry.
