Austin, Minn. Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL) today announced it has completed the sale of Clougherty Packing, LLC, owner of the Farmer John® and Saag's® brands, along with PFFJ, LLC farm operations in California, Arizona, and Wyoming to Smithfield Foods, Inc.
Farmer John was founded by first generation Irish-Americans, Francis and Bernard Clougherty. They invented the Dodger Dog and gifted a family retreat, the Harry Carey Ranch House (also featuring Les Grimes murals), to be preserved for public use.
