Pleasure Island opened for the first time on May 27, 1993. It was split up from the rest of the Flamingo Land operation in 2010 and briefly closed. At the end of the 2016 season the theme park closed for good after a gradual fall in visitor numbers.

What happened to the kids at Pleasure Island?
Once the boys have spent enough time being bad, they begin to succumb to a horrible curse that exists over the island (presumably placed via ancient dark magic rituals by the Coachman himself) which turns them into donkeys due to making complete "jackasses" of themselves and behaving like destructive animals.
Pleasure Island Family Theme Park closed permanently at the end of the 2016 season. The contents, including a 1904 carousel, were put up for auction. The last of the rides were sold off in October 2018 however as of 2023 the majority of the buildings themselves remain intact on the abandoned site.

The strangest addition to the "Pinocchio" remake involves smoke creatures (called vapor monsters) who are mysteriously working with Luke Evans' Coachman on Pleasure Island. The monsters help crate up and send off children-turned-donkeys to work in salt mines. Fans never learn what the deal is with the creatures.

This venue is now closed - what a shame. It covers a large area so I am sure that some developer will snap it up - just hope that it adds more facilities for holiday makers and is not used for housing or industrial space.
