Nightclub attendance has declined primarily due to the high cost of living, with 68% of young people in a 2025 survey going out less because they cannot afford drinks and entry fees. Shifts in culture, including reduced alcohol consumption, a preference for sober socialising, and the rise of dating apps, have made traditional clubbing less appealing.
It probably has more to do with the broader societal issues. The stagnating wages of younger people probably account for 99% of the fall of clubs. The rise of smart phones and the fear of being put on blast in a random viral video probably accounts for the rest.
GenZ is not a very social generation when compared to the previous ones, and bars are places full of socializing; not a good place to be for one with social anxiety or bad social skills.
A new study suggests the next generation will end clubbing once and for all – in favour of a very surprising hobby. The study found that 75% of Gen Z-ers would rather visit an art gallery then go to a nightclub at the weekend. This comes as 85% of the same age group reported art as one of their biggest interests.
In an NTIA study, 68% of people reported that the current economic climate had reduced how much they go out. "Clubbing is becoming a luxury, and that's just crazy," says Sherelle Thomas, DJ on BBC 6 Music.
Why I Stopped Partying & Clubbing...(a waste of life)
What do Gen Z use instead of 😂?
Whilst boomers and millennials may use the 😂 emoji, this has long since been deemed 'uncool' (or 'cheugy') by Gen Z. Instead, this has been replaced by the skull (💀) or the crying emoji (😭), dramatising the idea of 'dying with laughter'.
One study found that 34% of people in the Gen Z age group are making an effort to drink less, while 45% say they've never had an alcoholic drink in their lives. In contrast, only 36% of the millennial generation admit to never experimenting with alcohol.
Across much of the world, it is no longer middle-aged adults who are the most miserable. Instead, young people, especially Gen Z, are reporting the highest levels of unhappiness of any age group.
According to a study from Berlin, the ideal age to stop clubbing is surprisingly late—69! Engaging in nightlife can significantly boost mental health as we age. So, who's ready to embrace the dance floor and party into their golden years?
In part due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in part because of other cultural forces, Gen Z is rapidly becoming a more reclusive generation, and one that socializes differently. But now, it is becoming clear that young people are going out less and staying in more, in part because we are less inclined to drink alcohol.
A nightclub or dance club is a club that is open at night, usually for drinking, dancing and other entertainment. Nightclubs often have a bar and discotheque (usually simply known as disco) with a dance floor, laser lighting displays, and a stage for live music or a disc jockey (DJ) who mixes recorded music.
Nights out have been a staple of British life since the early 20th century, when the country's first nightclubs opened. But in recent years, the country has seen a surge in venue closures, with a study by the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) suggesting that there could be no nightclubs by 2030.
Whites have greater odds than Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians for either a past-year or lifetime alcohol use disorder. Native Americans have greater odds than Whites for lifetime alcohol dependence but similar odds for lifetime alcohol abuse and past-year alcohol abuse and dependence.

Pride is known as hubris (from the Ancient Greek ὕβρις) or futility; it is considered the original and worst of the seven deadly sins—the most demonic—on almost every list. Pride is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins. Pride is viewed as the opposite of humility.
As translation scholar G.H. Gerberding puts it, the meaning of the word is excessive and boisterous intemperance and lustful indulgence. God does not prohibit celebration. But if the party is based on hedonism and lustful sin like Paul is saying in verse 21, then God does not allow it.
Jesus apparently drank enough wine that he was accused of drinking to excess. In his own words he proclaimed, “The Son of Man has come eating and drinking; and you say, 'Behold, a glutton and a drunkard'” (Luke 7:34).
