There have been several bacteria contamination advisories due to E.coli found in the water, including one in August 2018 that lasted 15 days. A bacteria contamination alert happens when the level of “bad bacteria” in the water has reached unsafe levels.
Caesar Creek was constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and recreation. It was completed in 1977. Of the 10,186 acres licensed to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, 3,100 acres are managed by the Division of Wildlife for public hunting and fishing.

East Fork Lake was built in 1970 for the purpose of recreation and a primary water source for Olney. The lake covers 934 acres and has a water storage capacity of 5.5 billion gallons. WATCH THAT ANCHOR! The City of Olney has installed an aeration system near Miller's Grove at the west end of East Fork Lake.
Cowan Lake is small but beautiful lake It is a clean lake that doesn't allow anything over 10 horse power boats. There is ample fishing, and they rent out a variety f boats for your pleasure.
Alum Creek has good populations of both largemouth and smallmouth bass. The largemouth bass will be up around the Big Run Bay area. Use a depth finder to locate drop-offs with tree stumps and then fish them with plastic worms in black and pumpkinseed colors.
Location. Situated in the hills of southeastern Ohio, Salt Fork State Park has a steep to rolling terrain that is dissected by numerous small streams. The largest of these, Salt Fork Creek, has been impounded to create the 2,952-acre Salt Fork Lake. The main entrance is seven miles east of Cambridge on U.S. Route 22.
