Bakewell Christmas Market – November 18 and 19 2023
A quintessential England Christmas market with more than 100 stalls. Just six miles from Wheeldon Trees, in the heart of historic Bakewell, this wonderful market is enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year.
When and where are Matlock's Victorian Christmas market? The market takes place from Friday, December 1 until Sunday, December 3, 2023. Opening times are 9am - 6pm and it is free to enter.
For the Christmas market, parking passes must be reserved in advance and cannot be purchased upon arrival. Admission to the Christmas market is free, however car parking fees do apply.
At this years Christmas Markets there is so much to see, including home and garden decor, clothing and accessories, handmade home fragrances, plants, cards and stationary, toys and figurines, pet stalls selling dog accessories, handmake treats and food and handmade gifts as well as much more.
Bakewell Christmas Market weekend will be held on Market Street, Granby Road and Riverside Crescent and welcomes visitors, friends and families to our very own quintessential Christmas Market.
Is there car parking at Bakewell Christmas Market?
Car parking is available on Bakewell Showground with entry from Haddon Road (A6). Cash and card payments are accepted. Parking costs £5 for a full day.
Although many visitors to Chatsworth don't realise that much of the open parkland area around the estate is totally FREE to walk through. This includes magical Stand Wood behind the main house with the Hunting Tower and Aqueduct Waterfall; an absolute must visit for kids.

Chatsworth's annual Christmas Fair exceeded expectations and is in my opinion better than Lincoln Christmas market. The many many stalls (well over a hundred) are all on hardstanding and accessible to anyone with mobility difficulties ( which is not the case with everywhere at Lincoln ).
It's that time of the year again. Christmas market time! And what better market to visit than Chatsworth Christmas Market. It really is a beautiful Christmassy place to visit, with music, amazing stalls and delicious food.
Do I need to book in advance? Advance booking is not mandatory, however access to the house is by timeslot, and capacities in the house and farmyard are limited to improve visitor experience. We therefore strongly recommend booking a ticket in advance.
Both car parks are open from 9am to 6pm and tickets are £5 per vehicle, except during Christmas. Over the Christmas period, the Chatsworth car park is only accessible with a pre-booked ticket. We ask all visitors to use contactless card payments. Dedicated Blue Badge car parking is available at the house car park.
With parking in Bakewell starting at £0.90 per hour rising to £4 per day, we're confident we have the best parking rates anywhere online. We also have plenty of monthly parking options (Monday to Friday or 24/7) starting at £44.20 per month, if you find yourself needing to park at the same location everyday.
The walk into Bakewell is probably around a mile down the hill – so remember that the walk back is uphill! There are of course lots of on street parking spaces. But if you find yourself parking on street out of choice of fair amount of time it is usually permit only or metered.
